Fire Restoration – Documented

Fire Restoration

This fire was caused by an electrical problem with a dishwasher. The fire was contained to a small portion of the kitchen, but the entire house and it’s contents were damaged by the smoke.

The Kitchen :: Fire Damage

As you can see, the fire caused quite a bit of damage to the kitchen. However, it didn’t stop there. The following video will show you the actual damage caused by this fire.

Initial Walk Through of the Entire House

The smoke has traveled throughout the entire house leaving a smoky odor and soot all over. Our first step is a ‘thermal fog’. This will help decrease a bunch of the odor and make the residence easier to work in. The next video shows our first step at this restoration process. The thermal fog:

Then, we removed all the contents from the house and placed them in storage containers for further cleanup. We also removed the carpet, which was wet from the fire department, and saturated with smoke odor and soot. As you can see in the picture below, the soot has stuck to the walls, the fridge, windows, and basically everything else in the house.

Before we began cleaning the walls, ceiling, and floors, we first tore up the tile in the kitchen (had cracked from the heat) and placed air movers and dehumidifiers in the residence to reduce the humidity to avoid the possibility of mold.

Once the house was completely gutted of any non-cleanable materials, we did a heavy wash on the walls, ceiling, and floor. In the next video you can see how huge the difference is after we begin to wash the walls with our chemicals:

After we had removed all the soot, we sealed the walls and ceiling with an oil-based paint. This will trap any possible odor remaining and make the residence, once again, liveable.

So, after about three days, the rooms that were covered with black soot and contaminated with odor, is now ready to be carpeted, painted, and once again: enjoyed
